Ayotte Vs. Planned Parenthood of Northern New England

After New Hampshire approved the ‘ Parental Notification prior to Abortion act’, Planned parenthood of Northern New England went against this law in federal court. The reason for challenging the law put into effect for pregnant minors was because planned parenthood felt that law violated the “undue burden” test that was stated in ‘planned parenthood v Casey’ case which lead to a supreme court decision reforming the constitutional protections given to abortion.

Blog Post #2

President Donald Trump Planned to change abortion rights when he was elected president of the united states, however he can not just outlaw abortions easily because it’s under the supreme Court ruling. According to the Guttmatcher Institute which is a non-governmental organization that tracks global maternal health, reports that women have abortions in places where it is restricted just as much as women getting abortions where it is legal. During the years between 1965 & 1988 abortion in Poland was legal and available to women, Then in the 1980’s a movement started opposing against abortion rights under legislation which eventually made it illegal except in extreme cases such as threat to the life of the woman & cases of rape or incest. There were 2 cases in Poland. In 2004 there was a case about a young girl who was denied a ‘life-saving abortion’ and in 2008 a case of a 14 year old rape victim who was in the media’s attention after she was looking to have an legal abortion.

The bio-ethical reasoning approached by both countries would be ‘Justice’ which is moral rightness.

Abortion in the United States

Abortion law permits, prohibits, restricts and regulate the specific times of getting an abortion once a women is pregnant. Abortion has been controversial in many other countries, cultures and societies based on religions, moral, ethical and political reasoning. Also It has been limited by law. In the united states, abortion is legal which came about during the ‘Roe vs Wade’ case. It is legal in ALL U.S. states and every state has at least one abortion clinic. However there are laws to restrict late term abortions, require parental notifications for minors, and mandate the risk information to patients prior to the procedure.
